Use a combination of dried fruit you like - I use pears, apricots, peaches, apples and prunes. Chop the fruit if it's large (eg. chop the dried pears in half). Place in a bowl with water to cover and let sit for 15 minutes or more. Transfer to a saucepan and add some brown sugar - about a tablespoon for a dessert bowl of fruit. Cook over low heat, just simmering, for 10 to 15 minutes. While cooking, check for sweetness. When it's done, remove from heat and store covered in the fridge (it will thicken a bit).
Serve with yoghurt and nuts, or spoon over muesli.
