It’s just a silly phase I’m going through

Don’t get excited! You know I’m only here because it’s between Christmas and New Year and I’m kidding myself that I have time for this in my life.  But let’s see – maybe if I don’t have to code the bloody RSS feed by hand I might actually drop by now and then.  You never know.

There won’t, however, be many photos of food.  The sun sets in Brisbane at afternoon-o’clock all year round, so we rarely eat dinner in daylight, and food photographed by electric light is actively un-appetising.  I take hope from the fact that one of my long-term favourite food blogs, Hungry Tiger (currently offline?), is also infrequently updated and photo-less, and yet remains inspiring to me.

Finally, after this ungracious re-beginning, a very genuine thank you and apology to all those people who emailed me over the last year or so asking where I was, and received no reply.  The answer was that I had my head up my academic posterior, alternately panicking and blissfully enjoying myself (kinky!).  I anticipate lots more intra-posterior insertion in the year to come, but I will try and extract myself now and then.

Woo hoo! I still check your blog quite often and your recipe archive is my go-to place when I fancy cooking something new. Happy new year to you and Ted from Rich and me!

Like they say, long time listener, first time caller. I’ve been reading your blog for years now and even though updates weren’t made in the last year or so, I still referred to it constantly for recipes and such. I’m glad you’ll be posting again, even if it’s limited. 🙂

Hi Meg! As Graciela above, I too have been reading your blog (but never commented) since you were in Dublin which incidentally was when I was living in Cork! I’m back in Oz now, Melbourne’s inner east, and must say it’s a darn sight easier to find good food here than in Cork, though there was a few gems we sniffed out! Glad you’ll be posting again, as I like your take on food. I originally found your blog while looking for Nigella’s Lemon Risotto recipe but much preferred your version. Keep up the great work – pictures or no. 🙂

Hi Anita! I’m glad you’re enjoying the food back here – I am too (though I was bewailing to Ted just yesterday how much I miss Sheridan’s cheesemonger, I haven’t found a good substitute for that yet in Brissie). Did you eat at Cafe Paradiso while you were living in Cork? We at there the one night we were there and our meal was superb.

I hope this silly phase lasts a good, long while…This is the first time I’d even looked you up this year, after so many disappointments last year. Well done gorgeous – it’s good to have you back even if it’s just for a short time.

Thanks sweetie! The rain over the last few days has made me really feel like cooking something other than a salad, so maybe I will even manage to – gasp – update this week! We’ll see…
