Merrick's shortbread biscuits

10 ozbutter
4 ozwhite sugar
10 ozplain flour
4 ozrice flour
milk
brown or demerara sugar

Mix the first 4 ingredients together into a dough. Form it into flat, biscuit-sized rounds. Roll edges in milk and brown sugar.

Bake at 180C for 12 to15 minutes.
